Ralph is retired, a resident of Portola for 27 years. He was mostly an electrical engineer when working, with art a sometimes hobby.

Art training includes a number of classes under Harvey Rubin in Burbank, workshops with Robert Gray and Marilyn Simmondale, and Ralph’s own experiments with various media and subject matter.

While pen and ink drawings were preferred for awhile, color keeps creeping back into what Ralph does. The preferred medium lately has been acrylic, with watercolor not far behind. Sometimes it’s both, on watercolor paper.

The paintings in the February show are mostly acrylic, primarily from the last year or so. Included are paintings reflecting a recent fixation on water: streams and rivers mostly. Some are from photos taken in Plumas County, some from somewhere in the mind. Probably his.
