ANDREW OHREN
PERFORMS AT WORDS & MUSIC

Guitarist Andrew Ohren performs at Quincy’s Words & Music on Thursday, October 9th. Doors open at 7:00 pm and no host coffees, teas and libations will be available. The featured artist portion begins at 7:15. Admission is still only $3. Poet and writer Jim Cannon is also expected to be on hand to share some of his latest work in his unique presentation style.

You will find no limit to the beauty and diversity of solo guitar music when you listen to the music of solo guitarist Andrew Ohren.

Using a nylon sting flamenco guitar Andrew is a master of replicating boundless styles of music with the instrument. Ohren is also an accomplished classical guitarist and classical guitar composer. He has been performing far and wide since he was 18: across the United States and all the way to Paris France.

Now living in Plumas County California Andrew is best known in Northern California and Reno Nevada. He has performed at hundreds of weddings, parties, and other events. He is available for private instruction teaching guitar in Quincy and Portola California.

Ohren first studied guitar with Douglas Murphy at Holy Names College in Oakland California. He has also studied with Jim Burtrum at Cal State Hayward, Don Enríquez at Humboldt State, Ed Corey at University of Nevada Reno, and Benoit Maural in Paris and has been taking master classes with great guitarist such as Michael Chapdelaine and Ana Vidovic.

Andrew Ohren is currently releasing his fourth full-length recording.

Words & Music is also a place for musicians and writers to share their talents with a very receptive crowd. Open stage (it is often called open mike, but there are no microphones used at the venue) will follow the featured set. Any aspiring poets, musicians, storytellers, actors or performers are encouraged to sign up at the door for a 5 to 7 minute time slot. All music performances must be acoustic only, with no electrical instruments or sound equipment allowed. Original work is always encouraged.

Words and Music is an acoustic music and spoken word program which has been sponsored and facilitated by Plumas Arts since 1989.

Plumas Arts is designated annually by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors to serve as the local representative to the California Arts Council’s State-Local Partnership Program. Incorporated in 1981 as a 501c3 not for profit agency, Plumas Arts provides our region with a variety of cultural and educational programs that enhance both the soul of the creative arts and the local economy.
