Michael Saari is Featured Artist at Plumas Arts Gallery

Michael Saari's paintings will hang at the Plumas Arts Gallery.

The Plumas Arts Gallery, located at 525 Main Street in Quincy, will host a reception Friday, March 4, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a new exhibit of paintings by Michael Saari. Longtime resident of Plumas County, and a frequent exhibitor at the Plumas County Fair Art Barn, Saari's work comprises a wide variety of subjects, from familiar local landscapes to exotic wildlife.

Saari's work is keenly observed, the details of light hitting a meadow or the crinkled skin of an elephant's trunk faithfully rendered. He comments, “As a young artist, I was asked this question, a lot: “How do you draw so well?” My honest answer was, “I don't know, it must be a God-given talent.” God has given me this incredible talent. Even as a small kid I had this talent. Of course, not as refined as it is now, but there nonetheless.” Saari goes on to say, “As I refined this talent, I found I did my art for many reasons: money, the love of my craft, “fame,” but mostly because as an artist, I have to create.”

Saari's work will hang at the gallery for the month of March, 2016. The Plumas Arts Gallery and office hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am to 5pm, and Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Please visit Plumas Arts on the web at for more information about their programs.
