Several hundred arts enthusiasts and well-wishers turned out on the May 4th Quincy Art Walk to attend the opening of the photography exhibition by Carr Clifton. The evening was also the first public event held in Plumas Arts' new home.

Clifton is widely regarded as one of the best living nature and landscape photographers. His prestigious resume of reviews, magazine covers, publication credits and corporate advertising clients attests to that fact. You can get more insight into him and his work on his website:

"It was an overwhelming evening. The gallery was filled to capacity (estimated at 150 persons) from 5pm to 8pm," comments Gallery Manager Lori Davis. "Carr was very pleased by the turnout and the gallery space."

Clifton, a Taylorsville native, whose work is widely shown and sold in national and international markets, has had almost no exhibitions of his work in Plumas County. He is very happy to have this "hometown" showcase bring together 30 large format presentations of his work. His exhibition also shows off the new gallery space to a beautiful advantage, or so the comments of all visitors attest, say Plumas Arts staff.

To express his gratitude and offer support to Plumas Arts in the ongoing development of their new community center, Clifton is offering a 30% discount on the regular sale prices of the work in this show. "If you have ever wanted to purchase a Carr Clifton photo this is certainly the opportunity," adds Davis.

Come see the work and the newly refurbished historical landmark for yourself. The Clifton exhibition will hang in the Capitol Arts Center at 525 Man Street in Quincy through June 15th. Current Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 11am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. Showings may also be arranged by appointment.

As Plumas Arts has a chance to grow into the space it will also be used for a variety of community and rental uses. A Grand Opening is planned for sometime this summer. For more information visit the gallery or call 530-283-3402.
